We’re almost there – after 1,850 miles. Two more days, my father told us at dinner. We walked about our new life. I’m so happy.

Narrator: William’s diary, 1912

William: 12th April

We left England two days ago on the ship. It’s so big. Yesterday we stopped to Ireland, and then we started to sail to New York. In the evening we met the Bloomberg family. They were nice. Their daughter Josephine was a little shy and serious.

13th April

This morning Josephine told us about New York. I can’t wait to be there.

Dear Diary,

Yesterday was December 12th, 2012. (12/12/12), and the Mayan Calendar finished years ago, some people said this day was the end of the world. But nothing happened. Nothing argued. At school I saw my friends, went to my classes, and ate lunch. Then I played basketball. After dinner I watched television, got some messages, and wrote to my friends. Another normal day.
